A Tail to be Told

Afternoon everyone. Welcome to Little Eden and my exhibition, "A Tail to be Told." Hopefully many wagging tails will be told there is money coming in to help look after them.

I never thought I could do anything artistic. However, upon moving to the Tablelands in the 90's, I became involved in the art world. The Tablelands have so many wonderful artists.

Pottery was my first love. Upon moving back to Cairns into a unit, clay was not possible. Too messy. So I started painting in oils under the watchful eye of Claire Souter. Claire must be the best tutor in the world. Anyone who attends her group turns out to be a good painter. Well, I think I have managed some good work.

Painting soon became a passion, so much so that I produce many, many artworks. Hence this exhibition. Luckily Claire Jones an avid animal supporter and foster carer, came up with the idea of raising money for three animal rescue organisations.

• Bush Dogs and Pups
• Remote Animal Rescue, FNQ

I am sure you know how much effort and money goes into looking after these animals. Not many of us would be so dedicated. This is where we can help and do a small part.

I have a delightful three legged cat called Ben, and a small dog called Smudge. Both are rescues.

So, if a painting or two, or more, takes your fancy, all of your money will be going to these three organisations.

Now, with the raffle. Just to be a bit different, the first ticket drawn can have their choice of any not sold painting on the walls. Just the one. The second gets a hand built piece of my pottery, and the third drawn, gets some of Claire's beautiful work. The fourth takes home the beautiful hamper of local goodies. Tickets are 5 for $20 and drawn at the end of this afternoon. You can take your prizes home today.

Also if you buy a painting, or two, you can take them today as well. I will replace them with another one. As I mentioned, I have heaps. Let's help those hard working people who take care of animals in need.
